Romeo Nicolini was the infamous maker of Pavlova's shoes who she routinely fought with about their quality and design. The shoes were made with a very light shank that was held in place by 2 - 3 nails placed at strategic points. They were satin on the outside, soft kid leather on the inside, and only the tip was blocked. They were said to make absolutely no sound on stage.
